Jerry D. Kidd was born near Hope, AR, on May 20, 1939. He trusted Jesus as his Savior at 12 years of age and was baptized by the Unity Baptist Church in Hope. After graduating from Hope High School in 1957, he attended the University of Southern Arkansas in Magnolia where he met his future bride, Sue Hudson, at College View Baptist Church. Jerry and Sue were married on August 26, 1960, and both attended Central Baptist College (CBC) in Conway.
While attending CBC, Brother Kidd pastored two area churches on a part time basis. In 1963 he graduated from CBC with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Bible, and they moved to Springhill, LA, to his first full-time pastorate at East Side Baptist Church. After four years in Louisiana, Brother Kidd was elected as an interstate missionary by the Baptist Missionary Association of American (BMAA) and began working with a mission congregation at Fort Walton Beach, FL. During their five years in Florida, the Kidds adopted two babies, Jason and Juli. In 1972, the family moved from Florida to Longview, TX, where Brother Kidd enrolled in LeTourneau College (now LeTourneau University) to take advantage of several technical courses in preparation for missionary work on the foreign field. While in Longview, he pastored Ware Acres (now Camille Acres) Baptist Church.
A year later, the Kidds were elected as foreign missionaries to work in the country of Bolivia, South America. He served eight years (1974-1982) as a missionary pilot, living in the large city of Santa Cruz and flying across the country to supply jungle missionaries, ferry doctors and other medical professionals to remote villages and to present the Gospel message to natives in those areas. In 1982, Brother Kidd was asked to serve as Director of International Missions for the BMAA. During the next 30 years he worked beside American and national missionaries in approximately 70 foreign countries. In January 2013, Brother Kidd was elected as Director of Missionary Care for the BMAA, and, at that time, he also accepted the call to pastor Temple Baptist Church.
